⚽ Youth Sports — Ages 12 & Under

The next season is getting close.

New teammates maybe. New challenges definitely. The chance to start fresh — to take everything you learned last season and use it in this one.

Before it starts, I want to ask you one question: who do you want to be this season?

Read this passage slowly.

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.

Philippians 3:13 — NIV

Let that sit for a second before you move.

Paul says he forgets what is behind and strains toward what is ahead. He’s not saying the past doesn’t matter — he learned from it. He’s saying he doesn’t let it hold him back. He uses it to push forward.

You have a chance to do the same thing with the next season. Whatever happened last season — good or hard — you’ve learned from it. Now you get to decide how to use what you learned.

Maybe last season you struggled to stay positive when things went wrong. You can decide right now that this season is going to be different. Maybe you weren’t always a great teammate. New season, new choice. Maybe you gave up too easily in tough moments. You can choose now to be someone who keeps going.

The next season hasn’t happened yet. Everything is still possible. Who do you want to be in it?

The next season hasn’t happened yet. Everything is still possible. Decide now who you want to be in it.

One Question

What is one thing you want to do differently this season than last season?

The answer becomes the personal goal for the upcoming season. If you can, write them down and bring them back at the first pre-season gathering.

Carry This Out

Forget what is behind. Strain toward what is ahead. A new season is coming.
