Tonight is for the seniors.
And I want to say something to three different groups in this room: to the seniors themselves, to the underclassmen, and to the families who are here watching.
Because Senior Night is about more than a ceremony. It’s a hinge moment — the place where what has been meets what is coming next. And it deserves more than a photo and a flower.
Read this passage slowly.
One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.

One generation commends to another. That’s what Senior Night actually is, underneath the ceremony. The generation that built what this program is right now passing something to the generation that will carry it forward. Not just a tradition — a story. An identity. A standard. A way of being in this program that the seniors have shaped and are now leaving behind.
To the seniors: you built something here. Not alone — but you are part of what this program is, and what you contributed to it is real. The culture you shaped, the standard you held or didn’t hold, the way you treated the people around you in the hardest moments of the season — all of that is in the room right now. And some of it will still be here after you’re gone.
To the underclassmen: you are receiving something tonight. The people walking across that floor have been doing this longer than you have. Watch what they built. Take what’s worth carrying. And understand that your job now is to add to it — to build on what they handed you rather than letting it end with them.
To the families: thank you. The athlete who walked onto that floor tonight didn’t get there alone. The years of investment — the driving, the cheering, the meals, the conversations, the presence through the hard seasons — that’s in the room too. You are part of the story being told tonight.
Senior Night is one generation commending what it built to the next. The story doesn’t end tonight. It changes hands.
To the seniors: what do you want to leave behind in this program? Not the trophies — the thing you want to still be here after you’re gone.
Let the seniors answer this without rushing. It’s one of the most significant questions they’ll be asked in their athletic career.
