Not everyone in this room is a captain. But there are leaders in this room who don’t have a title.
You know who they are. The player who does the right thing when no one is watching. The one who speaks the truth in the right moment. The one who shows up fully when the team has an easy out. The one who pulls a struggling teammate aside and says the right thing.
Those people lead whether they have a title or not. And what they do might matter more than what the titled leaders do.
Read this passage slowly.
Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave — just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.

Jesus turns the leadership model upside down. Greatness is not about position. It’s about service. The greatest is the one who serves most — not the one who holds the most authority.
That means leadership is available to everyone in this room. Not everyone has the title. But everyone has the capacity to serve the people around them. Everyone can choose to do the thing the team needs instead of the thing that’s comfortable. Everyone can set a tone, hold a standard, pull someone up, or speak the hard truth in the right moment.
The teams that win consistently are not the ones where only the captains lead. They’re the ones where leadership is distributed — where multiple people in the room are choosing to serve the team in their own way, in their own sphere, with the influence they actually have.
You don’t need a title. You need the choice. Make it.
