The Scoreboard
There’s a version of this that goes wrong.
A team wins a big upset. They celebrate, they deserve to, the win is real. And then — quietly, subtly — the upset becomes the story. The thing they reference constantly. The proof that they’ve arrived. The achievement they keep returning to instead of building on.
And the team that peaked in the upset starts declining the week after it.
I don’t want that to be us.
Read this passage slowly.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.

Immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. That’s not a verse about staying where you are. It’s a verse about the endless capacity of what’s available.
The upset you just had is evidence. Real, concrete, undeniable evidence that you are capable of more than the rankings said. That’s valuable information. But it’s information about what’s possible — not a destination you’ve reached.
The best thing you can do with a landmark win is treat it as a floor, not a ceiling. Not: we peaked. Not: we proved we can compete at this level, so we’re done. But: we now know this is available to us, so what else is?
Ephesians 3:20 is a verse about abundance. There is more. There is always more than you’ve accessed yet. The upset cracked open a door you didn’t know was there. Now you walk through it and find out what’s on the other side.
Don’t put the upset in a frame on the wall. Use it as the foundation for the next thing. The story isn’t over. It just got more interesting.
Treat the upset as a floor, not a ceiling. It’s evidence of what’s available — not a destination you’ve reached.
